Lakefield Gospel Chapel Statement of Faith

.We believe that the Holy Scriptures are inspired by God and inerrant in the original writings and of final authority in all matter of faith and practise. (2 Tim. 3:16-17.) (1 Tim. 2:5; Matt. 28:19; Isa. 44:6; Deut. 6:4.)

.We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (1 Tim. 2:5; Matt. 28:19; Isa. 44:6; Deut. 6:4.)

.We believe that God created and sustains the physical universe including the earth and all living things in it, and that man was created in the image of God. (Gen. 1:26. See also Genesis 1; John 1:3; Col. 1:16-17; Heb. 1:2-3.)

.The Lord Jesus Christ is the Son of God. We believe in His essential deity, absolute holiness, virgin birth, real humanity, sinless life, atoning death, bodily resurrection, and ascension into heaven where He ministers as our Great High Priest. (Matt. 1:18,22-23; John 1:1-2,14; Luke 1:35; Heb. 4:14-16; 9:24; 1 John 3:5.)

.We believe that every man has sinned and is separated from God, but can be brought into fellowship with God by spiritual birth through faith in Jesus Christ, and that each believer possesses the security of eternal life. (Romans 3:23; John 3:3-7; 5:24; 10:28-29.)

.We believe that each believer is indwelt and sealed by the Holy Spirit who enables the believer to live a godly life. (2 Cor. 1:22; Eph. 1:13-14; Romans 8:9-17.)

.We believe that each born-again Christian is a member of the true church of Jesus Christ and should fellowship with the local expression of the church, which is gathered in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Col. 1:18; Matt. 16:18; Phil. 1:1.)

.We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust; the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and everlasting conscious punishment of the lost. (1 Thess. 4:16-17; John 14:3; Rev. 20:11-15.)

.We believe in the personal and imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ to the air, to take his people to be with Himself, and subsequently to judge the world and reign in righteousness. (1 Thess. 4:16-17; John 14:3; Rev. 20:1-6; Matt. 25:31-33.)

.We believe there are two Christian ordinances, baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper. (Matt. 28:19; Acts 8:35-39; Luke 22:19-20.). Baptism is for believers upon confession of their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and signifies the transformation that has taken place in the person's life. The Lord's Supper was instituted by the Lord Himself, and commemorated by the early church on the first day of the week. It is the privilege and duty of every true believer to obey the Lord's request, “This do in remembrance of me”, (Luke 22:19).
